Thursday 27th May

I didn't sleep at all during the night - the boat was rocking quite a lot as it was quite windy and after the Superfast ferry from Ancona to Patras, the ferry felt like a right rickerty old boat. Daz on the other hand slept very well. We got a phone call from reception at 3:30am to say we'd be docking at Kos soon.

The ship docked at 4:30am and we got off the boat. Looking back it all seems a bit like the twilight zone. I was very tired. Kos was dark and very quiet - I was used to seeing it full of life. We rode the 10km or so to Zipari where Barbara and Howard live. I was very happy - we had actually made it!

When we arrived at the house at around 5am - nobody was up. Jane and Michelle had flown out and arrived at 2am that morning - so everybody had already had a very long night. I rang Jane on her mobile to ask her to let us in! I fell into bed and slept until mid morning.

Later that day we had a look at the bike so see if we could find a more permanent solution that would get me home. My good friend Dave had provided Jane with a load of quality drill bits and a tap, but unfortunately the Italian garage had really butchered the head when they tried to repair it. They had drilled far too big and off centre.

We paid a visit to the local hardware shops looking for anything that we could fill the hole with, and found some e-metal that looked promising. We made a stud and packed it into the hole with the e-metal. It looked very promising, but we couldn't test it until the day after so it was fingers crossed.

That night was a very good night - we spent it at Michi's Bar, the best bar in Tikaki, and drank lots of cocktails!
