Friday 26th May - Bradford to Hull, UK (80 miles)

I had a busy day! As well as setting off on our trip, I also was going to a friends wedding in York. The plan was go to Hull in the morning, put the bike in a friends garage, get changed and jump in a car and go to York for the Wedding. Then in the afternoon after the wedding, return to Hull, get back into my bike gear and meet Daz and Nig at the docks at 5:30pm.

So, I set off at 8:30am in heavy rain. The ride to hull was horrible; rush hour traffic, lots of spray on the motorway and I discovered my waterproof jacket wasn't waterproof and my boots leaked.

Steve and Sue in Hull were superb, as well as letting me use their garage, they let me hang all my wet gear over their radiators, so it would hopefully dry for the afternoon.

The weather cleared up in the afternoon, perfect for the wedding which was very nice, and I managed to get back and get to the docks, where both Daz and Nig were waiting, just in time.

We got on the boat, had the quite expensive meal (£22 for dinner and breakfast) and then had a few beers. Luckily both me and Daz were very tired, so we had an early night, I think Nig would have preferred we stop up for a few more beers, but with the early start the following day and the long ride ahead of us, I think it worked out for the best!
