Day 10 - Monday 12th July
I woke at around 7am again and finished my 2nd book of the trip! Daz woke at around 9am and we had breakfast (in a tin) and packed steadily and then had a shower – we had learnt by this time that it's best to pack before having a shower!
The weather was good but it was a bit cloudy. This is probably for the best as we'd spoke to a few folk who told us it had been high 30s for them in this area of spain, but for us the cloud was keeping it more like high 20s which was pleasant.
We set off at our by now standard 11am. At first the GPS got a bit confused as to where to go as we were on very new roads but then we got onto nice sweeping roads again. We saw a few villages on hills which looked very odd - like something out of Lord of the Rings! Then we went through landscape that looked like a cross between a western and the moon - honest!

We ventured off the main road and found a small village with a bar where we stopped for a cold drink. In the bar was a parrot which never stopped whistling!
We went around a very large and beautiful lake and then went past a huge construction project. They looked to be building a new motorway and had carved a massive ugly chunk out of the stunning scenery - it was such a shame to see.
As we turned onto the road to take us to the camp-site was saw hundreds of circling birds. We pulled over and Daz informed me they were vultures, eagles and red kites. I have never seen anything like it! It turned out there is a breeding program for the vultures near by and that was why there were so many of them. They were riding the thermals up then soaring to the next one and so on.

We arrived at the camp-site, but nobody was in reception. There was a mobile number pinned to the door, but we decided to have an ice-cream first and see if anybody returned. Nobody did so I rang Jane to get the Spain area code so I could ring the mobile, but just as I finished the call to Jane a guy turned up so we checked in.
The camp-site was quite nice but the ground was very hard and we ended up bending a lot of our pegs. There were sprinklers on to try and keep the ground usable so after we had pitched our tents we stood under the sprinklers to cool down a bit!

We then relaxed for a bit and had another ice-cream then a couple of beers. I had a shower and we went to the bar which was offering a 3 course meal with wine for 12.50! It wasn't quite as good as the meal in El-Point de Suert but was still very nice.
We had a few more beers and then turned in. Unfortunately a group of Spanish folk turned up quite late and made a lot of noise for a lot of the night, so I went to bed listening to my MP3 player. I woke up later, the Spanish folk had gone to bed but we were camped unto a light which was continually buzzing, so I put my earplugs in again and then slept quite well for the rest of the night.
