Day 2 - Sunday 4th September

We got up to glorious sunny weather, it was such a contrast to the day before. After a very nice breakfast we loaded the bikes and set off around 10. We had a quick ride up to look at the castle, which is a private castle with no public access. We took a couple of photos and then set off.

We had around 150-160 miles to do, but with a fair chunk of that motorway, so again there was no hurry. For this tour Nig was leading, which made a nice change for me, but on the motorway he unfortunately picked a exactly the wrong speed - my bike has VTEC on which means that a certain revs it switches from 8 valves to 16 valves. The speed were were cruising at was at the very point where it switches so keeping my bike at a steady throttle was tricky! Luckily was pulled over for petrol after not too many miles so I could tell him.

We left the motorway at Glasgow - it was nice to be back on normal roads again. We made a brief stop at JJB Sports to get Nig some trainers as he'd forgotten to bring his, and then headed up towards Loch Lomond. We stopped for a cup of tea and a bun at the side of Loch Lomond.

From their it was a short stint to our Bed and Breakfast just to the west of Loch Lomond in a place called Arrochar. It was another very nice place, with a stunning view of a loch and the mountains. The weather had stayed kind and we'd had a very enjoyable days riding.

The car-park to the inn was another matter all together. Very deep gravel which was an absolute bastard to ride over. Our room was around the back and taking the bikes to park near our room was challenging to say the least.

We had a couple of beers sat outside in the sun. There was a classic bike meeting at the inn and it was very nice sat watching the bikes and absorbing the beautiful surroundings.

We had a lovely meal at the inn and a few beers. It was a much less lively night than the previous one, but no less pleasant for it.
