Day 10 - Monday 4th August

My original plan for this day was to head up to Stuttgard and visit the Porsche museum. Daz and Nig said they didn't fancy a long ride up there and then back down and would prefer to just head to the stop after Stuttgard and maybe have a rest day somewhere. I agreed and instead we headed for Todtnau. This was just over 200km away, so only around 3 to 4 hours riding at most.

We had breakfast, then packed the bikes and rode them down from the hotel to a flat car park at the bottom of valley so Nig could propery assess the damage on his bike. It wasn't too bad - just the left mirror had smashed off and the clutch level was bent. Nig swapped his mirrors as the left mirror is much more important when driving on the right and manage to straighten the clutch level a bit so it was more usable.

It was a lovely day and we had a nice steady ride to Todtnau where we set-up camp at a nice little site.

The reason for coming to Todtnau is they have the Hasenhorn Coaster. It was only a very short ride from the campsite. When we arrived there was a bit of a queue but it said it was only 30 minutes. You had to get a cable car up and Nig really doesn't like heights so he didn't fancy it at all. He said he'd wait for us at the bottom.

Daz and I queued the 30 minutes and then got a cable car to the top. Little did we know there was a 2 hour queue at the top. There was no phone reception either so we had no way of telling Nig that we were going to be 2 hours.

After 2 very long and tedius hours we finally got on the ride. It was pretty good, although a little frustrating because they didn't leave enough gaps between cars and both Daz and I got slowed down by people who actually used the brakes. It was fun, but not worth the 2 and a half hours wait. I definitely would not do it again without asking about the wait time at the top.

Nig was a little fed up when we got back, and understandingly so! We returned to the campsite and chilled out for a bit.

Later in the evening, we had a walk around the town and found a nice hotel to have a meal and a few beers.
