Day 4 - Tuesday 29th July
I had another excellent sleep. I was aching a bit from two long days on the bike, but couldn't wait to get going again. There had been a bit of rain over night meaning we had to pack the tents wet, but at least the sun was shining while we were packing!
We were doing just over 180 miles this day, the first 100 or so were motorway before we got onto more interesting roads heading for the Czech Republic. We broke the motorway stint up with a stop at a service station where we met a German biker who was riding to Georgia. He was doing big miles ever day and while I admired his commitment, it wasn't a trip I'd want to do. I much prefer keeping the miles under 200 miles a day.
The motorway stretch seemed to be over in no time and the roads instantly improved once we hit the smaller roads. All my aches started to improve as I started moving around on the bike more.
We hit the border just after lunch and headed into the Czech countryside. The scenary was very different to Germany, everything was much more rustic with horse drawn carrages and very old looking farm buildings.
After a very enjoyable hour or so riding south east we arrived at the campsite, which large but very nice and sat on the side of a lake. It was a very large campsite set on the side of a lake. The weather had been awesome all day and by this time it was very hot so it was nice to get out of my riding gear and into my shorts, although I instantly got bitten my a mosquito. It did allow us to dry all the camping gear though.
Onsite there was a bar and restaurant, so we chilled out there for a bit and had a few beers and a meal. The bar was super cheap, and for some of the rounds they didn't take any money. I counted up my money the following day and somehow had spent nothing. There must have been a mistake in the change I'd received or something! The music was cool aswell, playing a lot of Pink Floyd, The Doors and such like.
We returned to the tents around midnight and although it took a little while to get to sleep, I slept very well.
