Day 9 - Sunday 3rd August
I had a wonderful night's sleep. We woke up to a lovely day and our riding gear was once again dry. We had a nice breakfast, then went to load the bikes. In the garage we discovered a Porsche 918 Spider; an absolutely gorgeous car.
Our route took us around a very pretty dam and through a tunnel with arches on one side so we could see the lake - it was lovely. Then we went through a long tunnel which took us into Switzerland.
We were heading for Liechtenstein and although it wasn't far on a map, there a massive mountain in our way with were no direct roads connecting where we were to where we wanted to go. There was, however, a train. So we decided to give that a go!
We bought our tickets and then were directed to ride our bikes along to the far end of the platform as the motorcycle carriages were on the front of the train. The train arrived and we rode our bikes on. It was a wierd experiance as none of us had ever done anything like this. We parked the bikes up and then there were seats in the next carriage up.
The train set off started working it's way up and into the mountain. There was quite a lot of swaying. We all looked at each other, then Daz said - "I'm going to check on my bike", to which both me and Nig agreed we wanted to do the same. We spent the rest of the trip holding our bikes making sure they didn't fall over!
Once off the train on the other side of the mountain, we stopped briefly for pictures as the scenary was stunning, then had a lovely ride into Liechtenstein.
Our hotel was on the side of a very steep hill, and parking was tricky. As Nig parked up, he slightly misjudged how much his bike would lean when on the stand and over it went. There wasn't a massive amount of damage but it obviously Nig was mightily pissed off. We helped him get it back on it's wheels then checked in. Luckily the hotel had a more level car park and we moved the bikes to there.
We went for a walk around the town, but there wasn't a lot to see and it looked like it was going to rain so we returned to the hotel, where we had a meal and a couple of beers.
Daz and I returned to the room but Nig fancied stopping out for a few more, so he chilled in the bar for a bit.
This was another very interesting day. Amazing scenary, took our bikes on train and visited another new country!
